Webanswers Review
By BristolBoy
Introduction
Webanswers is a question and answer site, but with a twist. In exchange for asking and answering questions, it is possible to earn money through Google Adsense revenue sharing. But how does it work? And are the rewards worth the work?
How can money be earned on Webanswers?
Many people question how money is earned on webanswers and whether it is a scam. Like many websites, Webanswers makes money from advertising. However, advertising only brings in money if people view the pages. The owner of Webanswers has decided that question and answer sites get a lot of web traffic and so has targeted this market. The advertising used on the site is Google Adsense (those little blocks which say Ads by Google).
To encourage people to sign up and contribute to the site the owner of Webanswers has allowed Adsense revenue sharing on pages which they contribute to. The idea of Google Adsense revenue sharing is that sometimes the owners adverts are shown, but other times the contributors adverts are shown. As such, to earn from Webanswers there is the need to already have a Google Adsense account. This means that Webanswers website is not running a scam website whereby it makes you earn money and then keeps it since the company never touches your earnings.
Once signed up money can be earned in several ways. Asking and answering questions results in your Google Adsense code being shown on these pages (and therefore the potential to earn money). However, when the answer is awarded (the asker decides which answer is best) the views all go to the person who wrote the correct answer. The code also appears elsewhere on the site in proportion to the activity of an individual on the site and so there is the potential to earn extra money through this.
How much money can be made through Webanswers?
It is all very well me saying it is possible to make money on Webanswers but I am sure what you really want to know is how much money can be made on Webanswers as I am sure you aren't going to take part in a site if the earnings are tiny. I have still managed to earn what I would consider to be a reasonable amount over a year despite only spending about 10 hours on the site in total and so I shall put the values here. Whilst it started low, the amounts jumped in August and have stayed high ever since. The latest updates can be found on my blog, A little extra money uk.

As can be seen a large amount of money can be earned. My earnings have continued into later months at this higher rate and so I have made hundreds and hundreds of dollars from just answering questions and I am probably earning the equivalent of over $50/hour.
If you like the sound of Webanswers, why not sign up now (full disclosure - this is an affiliate link so I earn money for signing up new members. However, I only share part of Webanswers Google Adsense impressions and so you don't lose anything by signing up through this link. Plus this means I only earn money if you do!).

Hi Bruce. Thanks for commenting. I guess it could be argued that the business model favours Webanswers but then that is what would be expected (they own the site after all). I only have my own result to go on and as you can see they are very good. Also I believe before an answer is awarded the earnings are distributed among everyone who answers so it is quite good in that respect.
Thanks for the information BristolBoy and I'm glad that WebAnswers is working for you. I'm all in favour of multiple income streams, so if you have earned this much for 10 hours work it can't be bad
CMHypno it definitely isn't bad, even though the earnings are now starting to fall again due to the Google algorithm changes.
Great !!
Thanks BristalBoy
Thanks for commenting lightpeak and htodd!
The question I'm wondering is what is the reason for the revenue jump from July to August? Those post-august revenue are amazing. And if webanswers can supply that kind of revenue, then I'm in.
BlssfulWriter the main reason for the boost was due to me actually starting to become more active around that period as well as the website becoming more popular generally. I havent been as active lately so the values have fallen slightly, but they are still very good considering it is purely passive income.
WebAnswers is a great way to supplement your AdSense account besides HubPages and blogs. I earned a little under $5 in the first week and now I'm earning as much as needed to make a payout monthly.
Thanks for your quick review. Oh, and is it passive income too?
I tried WebAnswers for a brief time and found that I got "best answer" at least 3 times and only answered perhaps 12 questions? Since the question asker awards the best answer status, I believe it is possible to get there relatively quickly if you are thoughtful in your replies.
Have you noticed any change in the payout since the Google panda report hit in Feb 2011?
I have found Webanswers to be a form of passive income Suramya. Sinea Pies, I haven't noticed any major changes other than what I would expect due to me contributing to the site less.
A friend was scam on webanswers, after contributing tremendously, she was removed and all earnings were lost
mitshell had your friend done anything bad to get removed? Also I am unsure what you mean by earnings being lost - was her Adsense account shut down?
yes, mitshell, you are not making sense. Very vague what you said, what did your 'friend' do...? I cant see a company like webanswers doing that without good reason, surely they wont brashly move on your friend's account like that.
clickforseo I agree - I have had nothing but good experiences of Webanswers!
Im just starting in Webanswers.. Its really a tough start. How did your earnings jump from 0.00 for the month of July to $70 in August? Thanks :)
Hi brandasaur. I think I was just very lucky - I seemed to become the best answer for many questions which got a lot of Google traffic!

Being "awarded" a correct answer on webanswers is the equivalent of waiting for the teacher to call on you when you raise your hand and she doesn't. The ability to earn money is in hands of others as the "awarded" answers are at the sole discretion of the person asking the question and there is no predetermined time frame in which an answer must be "awarded.". There are threads with 40 plus answers and not one has yet to be determined as the "correct answer." It's in Webanswers best interest to not have answers awarded as they will earn revenue from the existing thread anyway.
This business model is very favorable to webanswers.
