Becoming an Avon Representative: A simple guide on how to become an Avon representative

This is an outline on how to become an Avon representative, also known as Avon girls. Whether looking for a part time job to earn a little more money or a full time job, more and more people are looking to become an Avon representative. What follows should be a brief outline on how to become an Avon representative.  

For those who are unsure exactly what Avon is, it is the largest direct selling company, with over 5 million people currently being employed as Avon representatives. After becoming an Avon representative the representative attempts (and hopefully sells) products to their friends, family and anyone else they may know. On each product which they successfully sell they earn a commission, which is where the Avon representative's earnings come from. As such, it is easy to see that the more that is sold, the greater the earnings of the Avon representative in question.

There are a number of benefits associated with becoming an Avon representative:

• Be your own boss.  Once you have become an Avon representative you can work as few or as many hours as you like with near total flexibility on when you choose to work.  
• No need to build up a large stock inventory.  A large cost associated with traditional businesses is buying stock to then sell on, but due to the way in which Avon works, even once you have become a representative there is no need to purchase stock.  
• Tailor the business size to available space.  There may be the need to store and sort stock somewhere for distributing - this can take up varying amount of space depending on the sales.  Whether having only a small part of a room or a whole garage it is possible to manage the sales accordingly.
• Refer others and earn extra.  After becoming an Avon representative if you then move on and manage to recruit others to become an Avon representative it is possible to earn even more.  You will earn ongoing money which is relative to their earnings and so by showing them exactly how to become an Avon representative and how to be a good one is another source of money.

After the initial brochure and samples run out there is potentially the need to buy more samples and brochures.  This will generally involve a small charge, but this will hopefully be more than cancelled out by the income from previous sales.

After a while it should be a self sustaining business.  In addition, it will become clear who will be regular customers and who are unlikely to purchase and so efforts can be concentrated on those who generate the most sales.  At this stage many people either decide to reduce their workload only concentrating on the profitable customers, or they continue at the present workload but only target those who have generate sales, or those who are likely to in the future.

Another route which many people take after themselves becoming an Avon representative is they attempt to sign up others to also become an Avon representative, to try and earn extra money from being a senior sales representative.
